Located in the heart of Tanglewood Park is the Peter S. Brunstetter Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center features 4 sections for all members of the family to enjoy! A zero depth entry wading pool with 3 large water features, a splash pad featuring water features for the little ones to enjoy, a large main pool with 2 diving boards and 2 slides (48” height requirement), and a winding tubing river which includes 2 slides of its own.

Rules & Regulations

It's your time to relax

Aquatic Center

  • Meals are restricted to the shelters and exterior picnic tables. Only snack foods are permitted inside the Aquatic Center. Please limit consumption of snacks and drinks to concessions area, when possible, and dispose of all waste in proper receptacles.
  • No running, boisterous/rough play or inappropriate behavior.
  • No diving allowed in areas of the pools less than 5 feet deep or in pools not approved for diving.
  • Children under 12 should not use the pool areas without adult supervision.
  • Adults should not swim alone.
  • Children 3 and under must be with an adult at all times in the water or on the Splash Pad Playground.
  • Infants and toddlers must wear appropriate swim diapers in pool areas.
  • Please shower before entering Aquatic Center pool areas and Splash Pad Playground.
  • Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets (including puddle jumpers) are permitted in the Aquatic Center pool areas and Splash Pad Playground. No detachable personal flotation devices of any kind allowed on the slides or diving boards. No inflatables permitted at all.
  • No alcohol allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs should use the Aquatic Center.
  • No person with skin, eye, ear, or nasal infections allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • No person with communicable diseases allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • No animals or pets allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • No glass allowed in the Aquatic Center or on the deck.
  • Owners and management are not responsible for accidents, injuries, or missing items.
  • No vision glasses or glasses of any kind are allowed on the slides.
  • Swimsuits are required for entry into pool areas and Splash Pad Playground, and are subject to management approval.
  • Management reserves the right to deny use of the Aquatic Center to anyone at any time.
  • The maximum number of swimmers allowed in the Aquatic Center is 1,100.
  • The Aquatic Center is for public use.
  • Please see a lifeguard for first aid needs.
  • Emergency telephone is located right outside the lifeguard first aid room.
  • All rules posted throughout complex apply to entire Aquatic Center.

Splash Pad Playground

  • The maximum capacity of the Splash Pad Playground is 87.
  • All Aquatic Center rules noted above apply to the Splash Pad Playground.

Tubing River

  • No diving allowed in the Tubing River.
  • Only 1 person per tube and 1 tube per person.
  • Each person must remain in their tube at all times when in the Tubing River, unless in a designated seating area.
  • Return tubes to designated area when finished.
  • The maximum number of swimmers allowed in the Tubing River is 211.
  • All Aquatic Center rules noted above apply to the Tubing River.

Slide Pool

  • No diving allowed in the Slide Pool.
  • Only 1 person in each slide at a time.
  • Swimming in the Slide Pool is strictly prohibited.
  • The maximum capacity of the Slide Pool is 78.
  • All Aquatic Center rules noted above apply to the Slide Pool.
  • Note: Main Pool slides have minimum height requirement of 48" tall

Thunder/Lightning

When thunder is heard all bodies of water will be cleared and closed for thirty (30) minutes from the last time thunder was heard. Each time thunder is heard the thirty (30) minute timer resets. If lightning is spotted, staff will clear the pool deck of all patrons and seek shelter for safety. The pool deck will be closed for thirty (30) minutes from the last time a lightning strike was observed.

Rain Pass Policy

Rain passes will not be distributed for any closures after 4:00 PM, regardless of time of entry. For any closures prior to 4:00 PM, due to inclement weather, rain passes will be distributed to patrons when the Aquatic Center is closed longer than 30 minutes. To receive a Rain Pass, patrons must remove their entry wristband and present to front desk staff. Rain Passes are only valid for the current year’s operating season.

Prohibited Items

  • Outside chairs, umbrellas, or other miscellaneous deck furniture
  • Coolers larger than 28 quarts (approximately 20" x 14" x 12" in size)
  • Outside Food/Meals including but not limited to: fast food, cake, pizza, watermelons, etc.
  • Inflatables or other Unauthorized Swimming Aids
  • Alcoholic Beverages and Glass Containers

General Admission rates

include a patterned wristband that will grant patron access to the aquatic center facility for purchase date during operation hours. All patrons entering the facility must have an admission wristband.

Aquatic Center rates do not include Tanglewood Park Front Gate Fee. ($2.00 per standard vehicle, $8.00 per bus/large van)

Group Outings

Groups with 15 patrons or more qualify to receive a discounted group admission rate.

  • The group rate does not reserve any area inside the Aquatic Center as it is a first come/first serve facility. All group outings/reservation must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
  • First come/first serve picnic tables and areas are located outside of Aquatic Center facility as an option for group meals/gatherings.
  • For facility/shelter reservation contact Tanglewood Park’s Marketing and Events Office at 336-703-6401.

Groups are subject to swim testing by facility’s lifeguards and will received color coded wristbands based on swimming ability level.

Decorations, Cake, Cupcakes, etc will not be permitted into the Aquatic Center facility.

Tanglewood Park offers a maximum of 3 pool group reservations per day. Pool groups outings must meet the requirements stated above.
